Each week of this series, Pastor Brad will challenge us with a thought-provoking question to reflect on throughout the week. If you’d like to receive the week’s question through text, text TEN to 31616 to join the Monday morning text thread.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
Q. Who will you trust and what foundation will you build your life on?
“You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3
Q. Do my daily choices truly reflect that God holds the highest place in my life?
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God…” Exodus 20:4-5
Q. Do you worship God, yet rely on worldly things for guidance and security in your daily life? Take a moment to reflect… Could these be the idols in your life?
“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.” Exodus 20:7
Q. Honoring God’s name goes beyond language – it’s reflected in how we live. What does your lifestyle say about your relationship with God and how you honor His name?
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work…” Exodus 20:8-11
Q. We all need renewal—physical, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual. Where do you need it most—how will you pursue it?
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12
Q. How can you show respect, appreciation, and strengthen relationships within your family?
“You shall not murder.” Exodus 20:13
The sixth commandment emphasizes God’s value on life, and His profound love for us is demonstrated through His Son, Jesus.
Q. How can you honor God this week in each of your relationships?
“You shall not commit adultery.” Exodus 20:14
Q. What areas of faithfulness can you adjust to create greater trust in your relationships, and what areas of trust in God need realignment in light of His faithfulness to you?
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” I Timothy 2:1-4
Take time today to pray, asking God to reveal any areas where you need to turn back to Him. Write down one specific step you can take this week to align your actions with His will.
“You shall not steal.” Exodus 20:15
Q. Is it possible that I’ve been breaking the 8th commandment by … seeking to advance myself in ways that hurt others and dishonor God?
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. Exodus 20:16
Q. If lies can manifest as distortion, exaggeration, slander, or hypocrisy, how will you actively work to break these patterns in your live?
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:17
Take time this week to reflect: What unique qualities has God given you? Where do you need to release the habit of comparison? How can you focus on seeking God and thanking Him as your true source of fulfillment and joy?
