http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=F9E0JJNU, as a follow up to this talk, I thought this would be a good link to share. I work in metaphors and I think they captured perfectly the challenges for trusting God.

I love NorthRidge! Can you please tell me why you use the term Christ Followers instead of Christians? ….just curious

Christians sometimes refers to religion, whereas Christ followers refers to relationship with the Almighty, Abba Father

Janet Jones on your question, I can’t speak for Josh but I like the term “Christ-Followers” because too many people use the term “Christian” as a default position. See my post below..thank you for joining “the conversation”

Mike hit it pretty square on the head. I don’t feel like I can add to much to that. I also like how Christian is a noun but christ follower denotes action of some kind. We are in active pursuit of Christ.

Brad hit home with me today when he said “some of us trust God with only parts or our life. We are afraid to turn over all parts of our life because God my break them or mess up “those” parts of our life” Yea i have done that…. shame on me!
Janet Jones on your question, I can’t speak for Josh but I like the term “Christ-Followers” because too many people use the term “Christian” as a default position. When you ask them about their faith in their mind they reason “well im not Catholic… I’m not Muslim….So I must be Christian”. The reason I think this way is Barna Reasearch asked the American Public (only people that first answered “yes I am a Christian”) to answer some basic tennants of faith. When asked “Did Jesus live a sinless life” only 40% of Christians said yes. When asked “is Satan a real force” only 27% responded yes. So yes by the polls almost 83% of people in the US say they are Christians….BUT are they Christ Followers… I would say only a minority are.

Here is a link to the research I cited…. have a blessed day!

Do I trust God? Do I REALLY trust God? I thought I trusted Him completely – until hearing this talk. Now I am asking myself some hard questions. I know that I don’t trust God with every part of my life. I will be pondering this all week – asking myself which areas are hard for me to turn over to Him, and why would I hold them back? Thanks for giving me something important to focus on.

What a great idea. I spend entirely too much time in front of a computer, but this will be an actual good use of my time. Keep up the good work Northridge team!

Good Morning The D, Trust is extreme important and fundamental in any relationship. Where would we be without the trust of the one that we love. Pastor Brad I am glad that you mention trust is not dependent on understanding the other person. I think so many times we only trust what we understand and short ourselves of many things that are beyond our understanding. The challenge is “Will we trust every though we don’t understand?” Do we trust him who gave us Heaven’s very best?

Interesting note: This trust is relationship dependent not understanding dependent.

So is trust blind faith? It’s interesting to note the people who trusted Jesus like the Centurion, who said “Just speak the word and my servant will be heal” and Paul who had to be knocked off his horse before he believe.
