Discovery Island - Plymouth & Saline

When you volunteer in Discovery Island you are part of a vibrant, fun ministry with a wide variety of ways to serve, from communicating creatively to leading a small group, welcoming new families to holding infants. You become a part of something larger than yourself; you become part of a team that not only serves God together, but one another as well.

• Registration Team: Be a vital part of a Discovery Island family’s experience by greeting and directing them; be the smiling face that welcomes them. Check-in regularly attending families and register guests using our computer-based registration system.

• Nursery Shepherd: Wee Care Nursery is so much more than just holding beautiful babies; it is about ministering to our youngest, and THEIR FAMILIES, by providing a warm and caring environment for children six weeks through 28 months. When you volunteer in Wee Care you are touching the lives of countless families who are able to hear the message without concern for their infant.

• Room Support (2 years – 5th Grade): Not sure if you want to be a small group leader, but know you want to serve? Then be part of a team that provides support to Small Group Leaders and Coaches, connects kids with their small group, and helps make it the best 90 minutes of a kid’s week.

• Small Group Leader (Preschool & Elementary): Life is too difficult to go it alone, even for kids. Small Group Leaders build relationships with a group of 6 to 10 children. They help the kids apply biblical principles to their everyday lives; they pray for and with the children in their group. Community happens even with a group of 9 year-olds.

• Special Needs Family Ministry Partner: Our Special Needs program is designed to fully integrate kids within Discovery Island Programs. You will have the opportunity to partner with a developmentally challenged child to provide the extra support that the child needs to participate more fully in the Discovery Island programs.  

Large Group Volunteer Teams - Plymouth & Saline

• Drama/Creative Teaching Team: Gone are the days of felt boards and Graham Cracker Treats. Today, kids are taught biblical stories & lessons creatively through multiple medias, i.e. drama, music, etc. If teaching God’s Truths to kids in unique ways is your thing, then consider joining one of the Creative Teaching Teams.

   

Behind the Scenes - Plymouth Only

• Creative Props and Staging Team: Do you enjoy creating and dreaming? Then we have the team for you. Build the sets and props that help make the Discovery Island large group a wonderful experience for our kids.

• Ministry Preparation: Are you more of a behind-the-scenes person who enjoys a flexible schedule? You can be a part of a team that meets Wednesdays and/or Fridays to prepare materials and activities that support the classrooms and programming in Discovery Island. Materials can be provided for projects to be assembled at home, if preferred.

• Child Dedication Team: Setup, host, and provide reception support for scheduled Child Dedication events usually held on Saturday afternoons from 2p-5p at NorthRidge Church.
