Community Garden

In January of 2008, NorthRidge was approached by a meteorologist for DTE that DTE Energy was going “Green” and looking for interested organizations to plant community gardens on DTE properties with all harvests donated to Gleaners Food Bank. Thus, our first garden was tilled and planted in the Spring giving us almost 7,000 square feet. The garden yielded 3,011 lbs. of produce; the highest yield of all DTE gardens. In 2009, the garden was expanded, increasing the garden to 21,000 square feet – yielding 6,023 lbs of produce to feed the area hungry and homeless. This year we are hoping to have a greater impact on our surrounding communities.

How Can I Help?

Please join us on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 6:00p.  You will need to bring water to drink, a garden hoe or rake, kneeling pad for pulling weeds, scissors to tie up tomato plants, and a great attitude.  It's fun and we need you.  Whether you have a green thumb or not, there is always plenty to do.

Community Garden Location: Baltic Sub-Station, 50899 Powell Road, Plymouth, 48170
