Serving FAQs

Q: Why should I volunteer…I mean, do you really need me?
A: Volunteers are the heartbeat of NorthRidge. Every week it takes thousands of volunteers to make ministry happen, so, YES, we need you! Volunteering allows you to be a part of the excitement. You get to make a difference on our campuses, in our communities and around the world.

Q: What ministries have the greatest need for volunteers?
A:
While all of our ministries welcome new volunteers at anytime, there are some that have an immediate need for more help. Every month we post the lastest and greatest needs in our volunteer ministries on our Hot Opportunities page. Don't delay, sign-up today!

Q: What if I'm not sure which opportunity is right for me?
A: For some, it may be best to jump in and get your feet wet in a few different areas until you find one that works for you. We welcome you to explore our ministries with no obligation to commit. For others, we offer Discovering Your STYLE - a class that helps you pinpoint how God wants to use you to make a difference. We also have a Volunteer Connection Specialist available throughout the week to answer any questions you have and to help suggest ministries that best fit your passions and availability.

Q: What if I try a volunteer opportunity and find out it’s not right for me?
A:
That’s perfectly OK! We always want people serving in an area that best matches their talents and passions because that is when ministry is most effective. We give you the freedom to “test-drive” as many different volunteer opportunities as you want. If you find yourself not gelling with the ministry, talk to your team leader and they will be happy to help redirect you. Volunteer Connection is also available to help you find your fit.

Q: What can I expect?
A: Each ministry will operate a bit differently but you can always expect to have a lot of fun! We don’t want to leave volunteers hanging in the balance. No matter where you serve you will be equipped and empowered to volunteer with excellence.

Q: What is the time commitment?
A: Whether you have one hour to spare or ten, we have an opportunity that fits your schedule. We have monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly options varying by ministry and your level of commitment. We will do our best to be flexible with your schedule; after all, you are the volunteer!

Q: Why do some volunteer positions require applications and background checks?
A: NorthRidge Church is committed to providing a safe and secure environment where integrity is at the forefront of ministry. Therefore, some volunteer opportunities require applications and background checks. In these circumstances NorthRidge Church is committed to the highest level of confidentiality and we will only proceed to acquire background information with your signed authorization.

Q: Do I have to attend Discover NorthRidge or become a member of NorthRidge to volunteer?
A: We’d love for you to take the Discover NorthRidge class and pursue membership as you continue to volunteer, but it is not  a pre-requisite. A few opportunities do require NorthRidge membership, but these are areas of leadership or influence where it is essential to be fully supporting the vision, purpose, values, and beliefs of NorthRidge.

Q: I’m ready to get started. What's my first step?
A:
All of our serving opportunities are listed right here on our website. Use the menu on the left to navigate through our various Volunteer and Outreach ministries. We have provided a link on each page where you can sign up or request more information if you find something that interests you.
