There are three things that I believe it is our responsibility to give to parents here at Velocity.
1. Reality:
As parents you need to know the reality your students live in. My goal is for Velocity to be a ministry that helps you understand the world your teenagers live in by giving you the reality on student culture.
2. Tools:
Tools that will help you stay on top of the latest in parenting trends and issues that you face every day being the parent of a teenager.
3. Support:
You are not alone! It is my desire that Velocity be a ministry that impacts the whole family. Let us know if there are issues going on at home or inyour teen’s life that maybe we can help with or it would be good for us to know about. We are in the same trenches you are as caring adults who love teenagers so let’s work together. On this page you will find web addresses that I believe can be instrumental in helping you and your family navigate these tough years of transition from adolescence to adulthood.
These links will include:
- Software that can help you protect your home computer from pornography and predators.
- Updates on the myspace/facebook/twitter phenomena and how you can be savvy and understand the culture it has created.
- Parenting tips and suggestions from other parents in our ministry who want to help your home become a haven for your children
- A place to ask questions to the Velocity team or fill them in on what is going on at home and how they may be able to help
- Other links and websites that can help you fully engage your teenager at their level through understanding their culture.
