Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of things can I get involved in?

Our weekend experience is the best place to start.  We have small groups, service projects, trips, events, and more!

Where did you come up with the name "RustProof"?

It comes from Matthew 6:19-21;* "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

These verses are all about changing your focus from earthly things to eternal things. Many students focus everything on what they can get and on becoming popular. At RP we try and teach you how to have this eternal focus everyday.

What happens when I first come to RustProof?

If you have never been before, we make you put on this clown costume and have you walk across the room shouting; "I am SO funny!" and laugh hysterically. We are totally kidding of course! If it's your first time just look for the "Guest Sign-in" table at the front door and you will fill out a small card so we know you stopped by. Then hang out before the program - play video games, pool or basketball.  Maybe drink some Jones Soda and have some snacks at the Cafe or just hang out with other Jr. Highers who like the same things you do.

Does RP do anything other than the programs each week?

Yeah, lots of stuff, to see what's going on this month click on the calendar link. We try to create activities that reach a variety of students. We do laser tag, ice skating, costume parties, service projects, Fall and Winter Retreats, outreach trips, and so much more!

What do you do at a RP weekend program?

Some of you may have been to "church" before...and you think that RP is going be more of the same...but RP is like nothing else. You will see a band, video, messy games, hear a talk, and really get to know people. We study your world...what you're interested in, what you struggle with and then create programs that meet you where you are.

What is the best way to get to know people?

Come to RP. Its sounds funny, but a lot of people think that you can meet people without actually coming...to meet people the best thing you can do is just come as often as you can and be yourself. A lot of new people find that they make the most friends at our retreats, camps, small groups and events.

What do people wear to RustProof?

Clothes. and an occasional spacesuit or Halloween mask.
