Do you have childcare at NorthRidge Church?

Discovery Island is much more than childcare! During all Weekend and Midweek services we offer a safe and secure place for infants and toddlers, as well as age appropriate programs for children aged 30 months through 5th grade. We value the opportunity to provide an environment where your child can learn about Jesus and His love for them. Discovery Island does not provide weekly daycare.

Is there a fee for my child attending Discovery Island?

No. Discovery Island is supported by the tithes and offerings of the members and attendees of NorthRidge Church.

Why are some of the rooms closed when I try to drop off my child?

Each nursery or classroom has set adult to child ratios that are necessary for the safety of the children and for the consideration of the volunteers serving. On occasions Discovery Island must close nursery or classrooms, because we have met this ratio. When this occurs, parents are always welcome to stay with their child in Discovery Island.

When do children move up to the next nursery or classroom?

Infants and babies up to 29 months are grouped with children who are in the same developmental level. The number of nurseries available varies by service. Preschoolers move when they have their 3rd, 4th, or 5th birthday.  5 year olds and Elementary children promote to their next class in June.

Can siblings or friends of different ages be in the same class?

While we prefer that children attend their age appropriate class, we know that some siblings need to be together for the children to be comfortable at church. The siblings will be placed in the younger sibling’s/friend’s class.

What do you do with the information on the registration form?

The information on these forms is kept confidential. We only use the information to get to know you and your children better. We are able to identify birthdays, send you update ministry information and keep our records up to date.

Does my child have snack time?

Discovery Island does not offer snacks of any kind to children in the Nursery or Preschool programs, because of the high number of children with food allergies. On occasion when we offer snacks to the Elementary children, it will be posted at the registration desk and class room doors.

Is there anything that children should not bring with them?

It is preferable that children do not bring food or toys into class with them. It is always best to suggest that things be left in the car or at home. That way there are no lost toys or important items. Food is not allowed in any of nursery or preschool rooms at any time.

Do you need volunteers?

Yes, we always have a need for volunteers. The more our church grows the more volunteers that we have a need for. We can always accommodate volunteers in all areas from our nursery up through our elementary classes. To learn more please visit Discovery Island Volunteer Opportunities.
