We recognize that this age group needs people who have already experienced what they’re going through (college, moving out, first real job, independence) to help guide them through these years that potentially shape the rest of their lives. That’s where you come in! Meet regularly with one of our college-age students to provide support and encouragement during this pivotal time of life.
Each spring we collect food to help stock several local food pantries as well as collect food and gas cards for regular attendees of NorthRidge who are experiencing financial hardships. Volunteers are needed to help collect and sort the food, pack the boxes and load them onto trailers.
Volunteer for Saturday or Sunday, the weekends of April 25/26 or May 2/3.

We are looking for volunteers who have a heart to help others. Facilitators come alongside people who are hurting and facing challenging times and offer care in a support group setting. Facilitators promote healthy group discussion, creating a safe atmosphere for individual growth and development. You will be required to complete a 10-week Care Training.

Individual Care is an effective, short-term approach to getting adults back on track with their lives and relationships. This care is not about giving personal advice, nor is it a substitution for professional counseling. Volunteers simply provide support, next steps and prayer as adults work towards relevant solutions to their current struggles. You will meet 1-6 times with the adult as assigned by the Care Staff.

Marriage Care is hope-focused support for couples dealing with common rough spots in marriage. Volunteers help couples find out what is going well and what isn’t, and understand the “why” as they work towards discovering relevant solutions for their specific situations. Marriage Care volunteers are couples experiencing healthy, Christ-centered marriages. Volunteers will meet 1-6 times with the couple needing care.

The Café EXPRESS offers a simple cup of coffee, bottled water, or the need to satisfy a craving for a muffin or breakfast bar. Volunteers take and give back change, and keep counters cleaned and organized. Set up and tear down of portable stations are also a part of the job as well as brewing the coffee.
In January of 2008, we began a small community garden in partnership with DTE and Gleaners Food Bank. Today we are working in 2 locations hoping to provide as much fresh produce as possible to help those that are looking for healthy food options and in need of food assistance. If you are looking to volunteer and want to make a difference this summer, add the garden to your list by helping many who cannot help themselves.

Do you enjoy listening to the details of music – which instruments and vocals are more featured than others? Would you love to learn how to run and mix music to create a relational experience in worship? Then the Audio Team may be for you! No prior knowledge is necessary. Training is provided.
The Costume Team’s goal is to form a “serving group” that works and celebrates together at various times throughout the year. It’s the volunteers that make the Costume Team an organized, authentic and amazing ministry! We are looking for people with all levels of costuming skills including organization and administration, as well as sewing and design. Costuming needs increase during the Glory of Christmas and Easter service rehearsals and performances.
The Dance Team has the opportunity to dance in weekend services and during the Glory of Christmas production. We rehearse at the Plymouth location and perform at all three locations. This is your opportunity to volunteer for a team that takes the talents God gave you to the next level! You must be 14 or older to audition. Adults: The NorthRidge Drama Team exists to use our acting abilities to glorify God. The Drama Team meets once a month to improve our acting skills through games, skits, and a devotional time.
Members of the drama team can audition for special events like GOC and Easter, and for videos/dramas needed for services.
Students: Monthly acting “conditionings” at the Plymouth location for Middle School age and older (occasional kids workshops will be available for Elementary students).
Do you prefer color over black and white? If so, check out the Lighting Team! As an operator you will have the opportunity to run lighting elements that enhance the worship experience during services. The purpose of the lighting team is to engage attendees and guests with God through high impact production using various lighting tools. Does that sound intriguing but intimidating? Don’t worry, training is provided!
Are you a makeup artist or perhaps a cosmetic enthusiast? Being a part of the Makeup/Hair Team allows you to use your creative talents as you prep our performers for The Glory of Christmas production, Easter Services, and occasional special services throughout the year. This includes setting up and disassembling the makeup/hair room.
If you are an early riser with a heart to serve, or looking for an easy, quick way to volunteer and get to know some awesome people, we want you! If you have just a few hours to spare on Sundays, we’ve got an opportunity for you! These teams are responsible for preparing and deconstructing all technical and creative aspects of our satellite location stage sets.

Our Stage Design Team is always looking for people with a creative eye and a crafty hand! This team designs and creates the stage sets for weekend services and special events. If you have painting, decorating, sculpting or any other artistic experience, give our Stage Design Team a try!
Our Stage Fabrication Team is for those who enjoy building, designing and creating fully operational theatrical quality stage sets and props for our services and events. Building takes place at an off-site facility. Scheduling is communicated through email and varies from week to week based on build requirements as defined by our set designer.
The Video Editing department develops and creates videos for weekly services. Due to the time commitment, high production value, and skill level required, we only accept volunteers based on portfolio review. Please sign up below and we will contact you with information on how to submit your reel.
We rely on our volunteers to go to events, services, etc. and capture footage in professional and creative ways. Depending on skill-set, volunteers may be given the option to help edit obtained footage to then be used in weekend services. On occasion, volunteers also have the opportunity to assist with upcoming production shoots.
Requirements to volunteer: Due to high production value and skill level required, we are in need of volunteers who have: (1) their own DSLR Camera, (2) formal training and/or experience in video production, and (3) a passion and excitement for serving in the church.

You must possess the ability to harmonize with the other vocalists on the Worship Team. Upon successful completion of an audition, you will typically be invited to lead worship with us once per month.

Our Events Team makes sure each guest has an enjoyable experience at the class. They greet and check-in participants, serve food, direct participants during breaks, and cleanup after the class ends. Nursery volunteers provide a warm and caring environment for children 6-weeks through 2.5 years of age. Each of our nursery rooms cater to a specific age group with appropriate developmental toys and activities. Not only will you be ministering to our littlest attendees, but you’ll be ministering to their families, too, as mommy and daddy enjoy a service!
Discovery Island believes that each child is unique and must be treated as a precious gift from God. We always endeavor to meet the special needs of each child and have developed a program specifically for children who need individualized care and attention. Come alongside a child (Preschool – Elementary) with developmental challenges to provide the extra support they need to participate more fully in ministry programs.
Preschool/Kindergarten is a perfect time to start teaching basic biblical principles to children, helping them understand God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus. As a Small Group Leader, you get to instill God’s love by building relationships with a small group of preschool/kindergarten aged children. You will also oversee crafts, sit with your group during the Large Group lesson, and pray with and for the children in your group.
On the Registration Team, you’ll help children feel welcome, and parents feel confident that their children are in good hands! You’ll assist with check-in for regularly attending families and registration for first time guests, and still be able to attend the service. Join this team and be the “first face” of Discovery Island!
This critical team ensures that each area of Discovery Island has all of the supplies needed to run children’s programming with excellence. They prepare crafts and activities, stock room supplies, and are available during service hours to resource Discovery Island teams with extra supplies. This is a perfect volunteer position for anyone looking for short weekday commitments, or behind-the-scenes weekend opportunities.
Be part of a team that provides support to Small Group Leaders and Coaches! Room Support volunteers assign kids (2yrs-5th grade) to their Small Group, setup for craft time, take kids to the restroom and generally help make it the best 90 minutes of a kid’s week!

Boardwalk Cleaners help insure our Nursery/Preschool area is clean and safe for our youngest attendees. Vacuum, wipe down tables and counters, clean windows and disinfect toys and play surfaces. Can customize serving opportunity to fit your schedule.
The Common Grounds Café Team is ready to serve! Café volunteers are trained in making smoothies and frappes, espresso drinks, and are taught how to use the register… no experience required! This ministry is a great way to wake the world up to Jesus, literally!
Did you know we offer dinner before New Life services? From 5-6:30p we offer a food court style dinner called the Common Grill. Our volunteers prepare the food stations and serve to our guests. Do you have a heart for cooking and serving? Then we have a spot for you!
Do you love to help people connect to God and others? Then becoming a Groups Leader may be the place for you! Leaders facilitate discussion and help connect group members. You don’t have to be a Bible expert, you just have to love people and have a desire to learn and grow with them.
The Logistics Team is the backbone to our Brighton-Howell and Ann Arbor-Saline locations. The volunteers on this team unload cases of portable church equipment, set up tables, chairs and signs in preparation for our Weekend Services. Once the service is over, they are there to help tear down after the service. This is a great serving opportunity for individuals, families or groups.
Help bring a smile as we show appreciation to those who use the Shuttle at NorthRidge Plymouth. What’s involved? You’ll help set up the Concessions Trailer, and serve coffee and donuts to our guests. It’s simple, fun and you’ll meet new people along the way!

The Middle School Ministry is a relational environment where students can make new friends, have a ton of fun and learn about a God who loves them! We are looking for adult volunteers who have a passion for positively impacting middle school students. This is your front row seat to life-change! As a leader you will circle up with a group of students and lead them through biblical discussions on what it means to follow Jesus.
Support Team members are vital to this ministry! This role looks different depending on your passion. Do you enjoy being on the front lines or registering students as they walk in the door? Then the Registration Team is for you! Perhaps you wouldn’t mind being in our café, smiling at students as you sell them their daily dose of candy …then the Sweets Team is right up your alley! Either way, the Support Team helps to free up Group Leaders to spend time and connect relationally with students.
Help our guests determine the next step on their spiritual journey. One-on-one interviews take place before and after all weekend services. This is great opportunity to be on the front line with guest who have recently made a spiritual decision to follow Christ! Training provided.
Do you and your spouse have a heart for marriage? Consider joining our Pre-Marriage Team. As a table leader, you will guide engaged couples through an 8-week curriculum designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to experience a healthy, Christ-centered marriage.

NorthRidge Church’s Smoke Detector Ministry works alongside Children’s Hospital of Michigan – Trauma Center to place smoke detectors in at-risk homes in the Detroit area to help families escape deadly fires.

A Table Host for this ministry needs to be a warm and friendly individual or couple who is able to facilitate the discussion at a table of ten. In the process, you’ll build relationships with your group and support them throughout the course.

This little touch of home needs helping hands to setup the tables, decorate and keep the area clean for our guests.

As moms who have passed thru the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers – birth thru Kindergarten) season of life, we can offer wisdom and perspective on what it takes to be a good mom; while also acknowledging our role as women and wives. It is our goal to be intentional about sharing our salvation story and what it means to have a committed relationship with God, along with practical steps on how to incorporate that into daily living and mothering. Thursday morning (9:30a) and evening (7p).

Events have included… making lunches for the hungry, putting together care packages for single moms and other local opportunities. Openings are available for both morning and evening MOPS, Sept-May.
The women on this team work together to provide communication to MOPS (Mother’s Of Preschoolers) participants. Opportunities include newsletters, postings on Facebook and overall communication. Openings are available for both morning and evening MOPS, Sept-May.
MOPS is for Moms, while MOPPETS is for kids (infants-5 yrs old). As a caregiver, you’ll help provide a loving, nurturing space for kids while their Moms attend the MOPS (Mother’s Of Preschoolers) program. This opportunity is only open for the morning program only, the 1st & 3rd Thursday from Sept-May.
Our tech savvy team of women provide video and sound during our Group sessions. As part of this team, you’ll be responsible for video/sound for Women’s Group Studies during worship and teaching videos. This includes the set-up of projection equipment/sound board, running PowerPoint, playing a DVD, and proper shutdown of projection system. Training is provided.
Do you love children? Consider caring for our little ones so their parents can attend the Young Marrieds Class. This is a bi-weekly commitment from 6-7p.
