Financial Assistance

In our church family, we know there are many individuals and families facing financial hardship given our current economy. Often families cannot make ends meet, which makes it difficult to handle today let alone plan for the future.

The Financial Assistance Ministry seeks to support and encourage those in need by connecting them with resources both inside and outside of our church community. Our Community Care Staff will work with individuals, helping them to develop a plan that will not just meet their immediate needs but help them plan for the future. If you are a NorthRidge Member or Regular Attender and would like to receive Financial Assistance, please click here.

If you have any questions you can contact us by phone at 734.414.7777 and ask for the Community Care Office.

For those interested in scheduling an appointment for help with budget planning and the like, please contact us by phone at 734.414.7777 – ask for the Stewardship office.

Our Homebound Ministry is designed to extend the love, comfort, and compassion of Jesus Christ to those in our church family who are temporarily or permanently homebound. This is a volunteer driven ministry that connects homebound individuals with volunteers that provide visits, phone calls, & cards and letters of encouragement.

Because people matter to God and therefore matter to His church, we want members who are confined to their homes to know that they are still an integral part of the NorthRidge Church family. If you have a loved one that would like to receive our Homebound services, a ministry volunteer would love the opportunity to build a one-to-one friendship with them.

The purpose of the Grief group is to help those who are grieving the physical death of a loved one. Losses of various sorts and degrees are always experienced in life and yet the coping skills to deal with those losses may not have adequately been taught to us. Grieving requires feeling, sharing the loss and feelings with another, being accepted and then releasing them to the Lord at several levels before it can be adequately healed. Come and join in this group to find care and encouragement from others as you go through this difficult time.

Please purchase the Workbook “GriefShare” – available in the LifeMatters Resource Center – for the group discussion.

Infant Loss

When the anticipation of your child’s birth turns into the grief of miscarriage, tubal pregnancy, stillbirth, or early infant death, no words on earth can ease your pain and loss. But there is strength and encouragement in the wisdom of others who have been there and in God’s comfort that is real.

This group will encourage you along your healing journey. With the help of the devotional book, “Grieving the Child I Never Knew,” the author offers comfort and reassurance of God’s presence as you grieve the loss of a child you never got to know. You will be able to grieve honestly, share with others and present your hurts before God and begin receiving the healing that He alone can give.

Infertility Support

Have you experienced the heartache and disappointment of infertility or the pain of loss through miscarriage or failed adoptions? Join others and be encouraged as you share with one another and find support together through discussion and study of “Hannah’s Hope: Seeking God’s Heart in the Midst of Infertility, Miscarriage and Adoption Loss” by Jennifer Saake.

Hannah’s heart beat with a mother’s love long before she was blessed with a child. Through the years of waiting and longing, her gentle heart was nearly crushed under the weight of grief. You can meet Hannah in the pages of 1 Samuel, chapters 1 and 2. The Bible says she was “barren,” and we know she suffered heartache, anguish, and grief because of her empty arms. Perhaps you do too. Hannah’s Hope is for all who long for a child yet to be conceived, grieve for a baby too soon passed from the womb, or have lived through the no-man’s-land of failed adoption. It is intended as a guide to assist you in making wise decisions as you struggle through your grief. And by the end of the journey, God may surprise you by the ways He uses to answer your heart’s cry. Compassionately written by a woman who knows well these painful struggles, Hannah’s Hope will direct you to the Source of strength, whose name is “the God of all comfort.”

Childcare is provided for ages infant through age 12.

Men’s Integrity

The Men’s Recovery Group is a Christ-centered support group for men seeking recovery from a variety of issues. This may include relationship difficulties, pornography addiction, lust and possibly compulsive sexual behaviors. The cornerstone for our recovery is the power and love of Jesus Christ. We recognize that without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we would not have the ability to overcome our hurts, hang-ups and habits.

Our recovery “house” is built upon the fellowship of the group, having a safe place to share our struggles, pain, and victories, the accountability of the group, and the mutual support of group members throughout the week.

Materials used in this group for discussion are the book and workbook “At the Altar of Sexual Idolatry” by Steven Gallagher. These are available for you to purchase in our bookstore.

Support group for spouses: If you are the wife/partner of someone struggling with sexual addiction, we encourage you to attend our Beyond Betrayal group. It meets on Mondays at 7p in conjunction with the men’s group and your spouse will find great support from others at this group.

Sexual Abuse

“SHOUT” – Sharing Hearts Openly Understanding Truth – is a Christ-centered group for women in recovery from past sexual abuse/trauma.

We respect and acknowledge each woman’s right to be where she needs to be on her own road to recovery. We acknowledge the sensitivity we need to have for each member of this group so we must remember that “What we hear, let it stay here.” In SHOUT groups, telling ourselves the truth about the sexual abuse in a safe setting is an essential step toward believing that the Lord will guide us to further understanding, healing and wholeness. The process of healing is most effective for those who have a strong support system.

Materials used: “On the Threshold of Hope” and “Shelter from the Storm” and are available in our LifeMatters Resource Center. Interview & Registration required prior to attending contact below or call 734.233.3703

Victorious Women

Life as a woman today is full of many roles, distractions and, at times, pressure from work, family, physical issues and time commitments. Where do women go to be refreshed and renewed?

Join this open, ongoing group for women and be part of engaging conversation, digging into God’s Word and find encouragement and support. The group discusses various studies which provide biblical tools to help discover God’s ways to be a stronger woman and find community with others.

Current Session
Winter Session: Group discussion will be based on the DVD study, “STUCK” by Jennie Allen.

Do you feel stuck? So many of us live stuck. Stuck trying to seem perfect. Stuck in sadness. Stuck feeling numb. Stuck pursuing more stuff to make us happy. Stuck in something we can’t even name. These stuck places often go unattended inside of us and they are shaping our lives more than we would like to think. We’ve been trying to fix this feeling with everything but…

GOD. He has a plan for these spaces inside of us, the places we feel broken,k but we have to go to Him. Stuck is a journey to take an honest look at the fight going on inside, leading us to the God who has a plan to restore it, to restore us.

The lessons in this study offer tools to dig into Scripture, to deeply engage the mind and heart. Because as we realize that our stuck places are the very places that make us ache for God, we find Him waiting there for us with hope and freedom.

Able to join at any time.

Spring Session

Spring session: “Reclaiming Your Heart” by Denise Hildreth-Jones
Begins Monday, March 16, 7-9p.

Have you ever …
*said, “Those were the best years of my life?”
*believed that your past disqualified you for your future?
*thought one more care (or one more house or one more piece of cake) would fulfill you?

A failed relationship, a health crisis, a job loss, the death of a loved one–all can cause us to hide out, go numb, give up. Before we even know it, we’re simply coping with life instead of living it to the fullest. But you can reclaim your God-designed heart! This study will help women to identify ways they have given their heart to “lesser gods’ like performance, people pleasing and control. Find your way back to God’s design for your life – to laughing, loving, and living life to the fullest.

Join this group at any time at 3 regional campuses: PLYMOUTH, BRIGHTON, GROSSE ILE.
Childcare provided ONLY at Plymouth.

Authentic Men

Where do you go when life doesn’t make sense? There are so many distractions and pressures around us today – work, family, time commitments, etc. Sometimes the “noise” keeps us from focusing on what really matters and how we can grow on our journey with God. Join other men and discuss ways to learn how God designed you to be. Various studies will help you discover how to be a better son, husband, father, and friend and improve your relationships with others. This is an open and ongoing group.

Current Session
“When Life Hurts” by Jimmy Evans / Feb. 16 – March 9

We all experience emotional pain–and even devastation–in our lives, but few of us know how to deal with it properly. Our unresolved pain accumulates deep within the recesses of our hearts, in a place Jimmy Evans calls the “hurt pocket.” The more pain we accumulate, the more we are mentally, emotionally, and relationally crippled. But what if we could reach into that hurt pocket, confront our pain, and experience release and freedom?

Jimmy Evans shows readers how to completely remove and resolve every negative event from their past that is compromising their present and keeping them from their God-given destiny. He helps readers forgive others and themselves and discover true inner peace.

  • Why do I feel guilty when I consider setting boundaries?

Marriage Builders is a weekly lifeskills group for people who have the desire to build or rebuild their relationship in marriage. It’s a place to be with people who understand what challenges are faced in marriage. They know what you are going through and can offer support, help and hope. There are small groups created within the class and a facilitator “couple” leads/guides each group in the discussion of the Christian-based curriculum for that session. You will learn valuable tools to make your marriage strong, learn how to forgive, how to seek the Lord during the process of healing, and how to grow during the difficulties of life.

Winter 2015 class, beginning January 5, will be based on “The Third Option” and materials will be provided for you at the group.

Many of us manage marriage as a series of choices between his desires and her desires, between “peace at any price” and “letting it all hang out.” Because they tend to move us to extremes, these options don’t bring us together. With “The Third Option,” you can learn how to break through the clutter of past baggage and misunderstandings and build an effective, loving relationship.

The Third Option is an ongoing group program to build better marriages. come for enrichment. Come for support from other couples and to learn the tools needed to have a successful marriage. Or come because you don’t know where else to turn, but you care about your marriage and want to make it work.

Topics covered are:

Handling Anger constructively
Ending the Blame Game
Understanding Expectations
Dealing with Personality Differences
Breaking the Hurt Cycle
Communication Skills
Redefining the Power Struggle
Childhood Issues & Emotional Baggage
Building a Climate of Respect
How to Fight Fair
Forgiveness & Repair
